This town prospers shopping street with long history that is related to Edo and Fukawa atmosphere
Monzen-nakacho where was inherited busting Edo’s shopping street that prosper as a Monzen-cho that was popular as Hachiman-sama of Edo” in the Edo period.
There is a nice living environment because this is a place in which historical sites, shops with long history and convenience of shops are harmony, meaning the place has Japanese cool atmosphere.
The shopping street with long history which, has been busting as a temple town of Tomioka Hachimangu. There are restaurants, foods shops, grocery stores in Eita-dori “street” that is with old-Japanese atmosphere. Also, Fukagawa fairs is held at this street the first, 15th and 28th of every month so many people visit to here to have fun.
Tomioka Hachimangu “Shrine” has been known as being Hachiman the God since Edo. Fukagawa Hachiman festival that is held every August is one of most famous Edo festival. Also, Kanjin Zumo sprang into being from here.
It is one of the five parks established by Tokyo-fu(*) for the first time along with Asakusa, Ueno, Shiba, and Asukayama Park. Originally, this park was boundary line with Tomioka Hachimangu “shrine”. Also it was bustling area. Nowadays, there are multi-purpose space and tennis coat that is popular with locals.

Tokyo administration aims to improve around waterside and utilize Sumida river bridge as tourism spot so Eitai-bashi “bridge” is Illuminated by them. Also, part of banisters of bridge color will be changed so much in the different season.
